Family caregiving is love, but it is also work — and it does not come with shift changes. If you are the daughter, the son, the spouse or the neighbor who handles everything, CareBridge Home Services can step in for a few hours, a few days or a stretch of weeks so you can rest, travel, work or simply catch up on your own life. Our respite care services are built for that gap, and they are personalized to the person receiving care rather than pulled off a shelf.
Relief for the person who has been doing it all
Respite care means a trained caregiver takes over the daily routine you normally carry. They follow the schedule you have already worked out — the same breakfast, the same chair, the same TV program at the same hour — because familiarity is what keeps an older adult settled. Nothing about your loved one's day has to change just because you stepped away from it.
During a respite visit, our caregivers can help with dignified assistance with daily routines, meal preparation, light housekeeping and medication reminders. If your family member lives with dementia or Alzheimer's, we send a caregiver trained in cognitive support, so gentle redirection and patient repetition are second nature rather than something they are figuring out on the spot.
Some families use respite once, for a wedding out of state. Others build it into the calendar every Tuesday afternoon so there is one reliable window each week that belongs to them. Both are fine. We would rather help you set something sustainable in place now than meet you in the middle of a crisis.
Coming home from the hospital
The first two weeks after a hospital stay are when things go wrong — a missed medication, a fall reaching for something on a high shelf, a follow-up appointment nobody could drive to. Our recovery care is structured around preventing exactly that, so a discharge does not turn into a readmission.
We can be there from the moment the discharge papers are signed. CareBridge provides transportation from the hospital to home, then from home to doctors' appointments and other care services. Back at the house, a caregiver helps with the parts of the day that are suddenly hard: getting up and dressed, preparing meals that match new dietary instructions, keeping walking paths clear of clutter, and reminding your family member when each medication is due.
Recovery support is short-term by design. As strength comes back, we scale the hours down. If it turns out more help is needed long term, we talk about that openly with you instead of quietly letting the schedule grow.
Six kinds of help, built around your loved one's day
Respite and recovery care rarely arrives on its own. Most families end up using it alongside one or two other kinds of support, and everything we offer can be combined in a single care plan:
- Personal & Companion Care — dignified assistance with daily routines, meal preparation, light housekeeping and medication reminders
- Dementia & Alzheimer's Support — specialized, patient care tailored to cognitive needs, keeping the home environment safe and familiar
- Respite & Recovery Care — essential relief for family caregivers and structured hospital-to-home recovery support
- Transportation — hospital to home, home to doctors' appointments and other care services
- Cleaning Services — clearing clutter and hazards so the house itself stops being a risk
- Travel Buddies — support before, during and after travel, including personal care and mobility assistance
We provide personalized in-home support that allows seniors to remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the place they love most—HOME. Local. Compassionate. Dependable.
Questions families ask before the first visit
Start with a complimentary, in-home consultation. A care coordinator comes to the house, meets the person who will be receiving care, looks at the rooms they actually move through, and listens to how the day currently runs. Out of that conversation we build a written care plan with you — who comes, which hours, what they do, and what we watch for.
Request your free in-home consultation using the form on this page, or call (205) 605-4027. Our local care coordinators will contact you within 24 hours to discuss your family's needs. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday. You can also reach us at carebridge2026@gmail.com.
